about

As a San Francisco Bay Area-born guitarist, composer, and arranger I have been performing locally and statewide for decades. Throughout my life as a working musician I’ve had the privilege of playing with some truly accomplished artists. In San Francisco during the mid-90s I was a member of the jazz club Storyville’s house band. While performing five nights a week, we would invite artists to town to headline with our band three to four of those nights. It was an amazing learning experience for me. During my two years there I played with James Moody, Harold Land, Ernie Watts, Charles McPherson, Bud Shank, George Cables, Larry Goldings, Joe Locke, Jon Faddis, Kenny Drew Jr., Richie Cole, Ralph Lalama, Mark Murphy, and others. While these names may not mean much to those who don’t follow jazz, jazz lovers will recognize them all.

I’ve also been privileged to work with cabaret and Broadway artists including Mary Wilson (of the Supremes), Melissa Errico, and Paula West. Through the years I’ve played with San Francisco Bay Area locals Margie Baker, Swing Fever, Mel Martin, Dave Rocha, Belinda Blair (Jellyroll), and a plethora of others.

Currently, most of my work is as a sideman with the San Francisco-based cover band The Klipptones (featuring dance music from oldies to current), and with the group Novajazz (classic jazz from swing to contemporary), in some of the city’s most iconic venues.

Clearly, the influences in my career are many, beginning with music I heard in my childhood and progressing to Jazz, Pop, Rock, R&B, Brazilian, World, Contemporary, Americana, and more. My inspiration for composing draws from these musical references, as well as from this beautiful city, nature, spirituality, relationships, and, of course, from all the musicians I have had the pleasure of knowing and those I currently play with. My goal as a composer and performer is to write music blending these influences to create a reflection of who I am, where I live and the times in which we exist.
